Bitcoin [BTC] is beginning its bullish run now. It has been just over a month since BTC pushed past its $73.7k resistance after the uncertainty of the U.S. Presidential Elections gave way to clarity. Now, while Bitcoin is a good bullish bet, some altcoins could perform better.
AMBCrypto attempted to weigh the expected price performances of some altcoins over the next 6-12 months, against the potential risk of holding them. Small and micro-cap tokens were not considered given the sheer risk. Here are our picks for the best altcoins to buy in 2025.
Finding a low-risk buy
TRON [TRX] is a low risk, high reward token for the upcoming cycle. It has stood the test of time and has survived and thrived in the market since late 2017. The TRON blockchain is notably faster and cheaper than Ethereum’s [ETH] network. In fact, the statistics above show how much quicker it can be.
TRON has also made new all-time highs already this cycle. When BTC was consolidating from March to September, TRX pushed towards its April 2021 high. This show of relative strength was promising.
However, using the same argument, Solana [SOL] could also be a great buy. Its metrics match favourably against TRON, and the transaction fees on SOL are just a tenth of that on the former. However, Solana is also much larger in market cap and this might limit its gains.
PEPE for the vibes and outsized gains

The list would be incomplete without a memecoin and right now, PEPE appears to be the most popular memecoin that is not Dogecoin [DOGE]. While PEPE struggled to get going while BTC’s sentiment was weak, it has gone up by leaps and bounds since DOGE began to run higher.
The altcoin season is a contest of popularity and utility, and with memes, it is all about attention. It is not unimaginable that PEPE could go on a kind of move that Shiba Inu [SHIB] made in the second half of 2021 – Gaining by 1,335% in six weeks.
Avalanche [AVAX] could be raring for another run

In the previous run, Solana, Terra Luna, and Avalanche [AVAX] led the altcoin market’s rally. This time, however, AVAX bulls have been a bit more shy. And yet, the utility is still there – The chain still has high throughput and low costs.

The token also has significant potential for growth, something that Solana has realized more than Avalanche has. Worth noting though that AVAX is still a long way from its ATH at $147, which could make it a good buy for 2025.
